(above) DU students at World Arena during a wild third period
The University of Denver hockey team scored three times in the last six minutes of regulation to force overtime on Saturday night at World Arena. But its was Colorado College who scored with 10 seconds remaining in overtime to steal the victory.
Heartbreaker. Great game though after a terrible 2nd period, DU stormed back to tie it in the 3rd. Sloppy play in the D zone hurts yet again. Love Larazza but man I wish he just flipped that puck out of the zone... I think he was looking for a homerun pass. Not gonna hang the game on #16 though, he played a hell of a game. Complete opposite of Friday night! All that matters is the Goldpan is in the 303.
Well behaved crown down in the Springs compared to the MMA bullshit, car vandalisms & general lack of security that went on last time.
Heroic effort, but in the end a costly loss and another 1 point weekend.
All in all a great weekend for DU sports teams. Props to the DU students who turned out in large numbers all weekend. Lets hope the momentum continues.
Agonizing loss last night. DU had the strong start and the 2-0 lead early and then had an atrocious 2nd period. A valiant and spirited comeback ensued in the 3rd, only to lose in OT with 10 seconds left. A complete kick in the groin. Hard to believe the Pios only managed one point this weekend. Not exactly a momentum builder going into two very tough series against UND and Minny. I just hope DU can hang on for home ice in the 1st round.
CC, while certainly not an elite team, has to feel pretty good about the weekend.
Going into the last 6 games, the Pios have to put together some consistency. Otherwise the season will quickly come to an end.
CC has seven seniors, almost all key players, and they might have been the difference. That's two unlikely OT wins for the Tigers in past two seasons over DU at World Arena! Sheez, more abuse I have to take from my CC friends....

All 11 goals scored down the same end of the ice.
